Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Madzahib undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the field of comparative jurisprudence, fiqh, contemporary fiqh issues, and ushul al-fiqh.

The Journal of Madzahib, published by STIS AL-MANAR, serves as a platform for the publication of original research findings, applied research, and review articles related to the development of comparative fiqh studies. Submitted articles must not have been previously published or be under consideration by any other journal.

Each manuscript is reviewed through a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential to maintain objectivity and fairness.

In short, the peer review steps are as follows:

  1. Manuscript Submission (by author)
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s submission system in accordance with the author guidelines.
  2. Initial Editorial Screening (by editor)
The editorial team checks the manuscript for scope suitability, writing format, originality, and compliance with the journal’s guidelines.
  3. Plagiarism Check
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality and academic integrity.
  4. Peer Review Process (by reviewers)
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field for evaluation.
  5. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
    • Accepted
    • Minor Revisions
    • Major Revisions
    • Rejected
  6. Revision by Author
Authors revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ and editor’s suggestions within the specified timeframe.
  7. Re-review (if necessary)
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation, particularly in cases of major revisions.
  8. Final Acceptance and Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, and publication.

The journal is published twice a year, in May and November.

The most common editorial decisions are:

  • Accepted
The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revisions.
  • Accepted with Minor Revisions
The manuscript is accepted pending small corrections or clarifications.
  • Accepted with Major Revisions
The manuscript requires substantial revisions before it can be considered for publication.
  • Resubmit for Review
The manuscript requires significant changes and will be reconsidered after resubmission.
  • Rejected
The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.
