Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

MADZAHIB: Journal of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh is an open-accessdouble-blind peer-reviewed academic journal published by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Syariah Al-Manar. Every submitted manuscript must adhere to the journal’s writing template and scholarly formatting standards.

The paper should be written in Microsoft Word (.docx) format, using Times New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing throughout the text. 

Title and Author Information

  • Title: Bold, centered, 18 pt. Example: The Practical Implementation of Islamic Sharia (Furuiyyah) for Non-Muslims
  • Author Name(s): 12 pt, followed by superscripted institution number (e.g., Idrus Abidin¹,).
  • Affiliation: 10 pt, written below the author’s name.
  • Corresponding Author: Include email address (10 pt).

*Correspondence: idrus@stisalmanar.ac.id

Abstract and Keywords

Each manuscript must contain both English and Indonesian abstracts (approximately 150–250 words each).

  • The abstract must clearly present: research background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • The abstract should not contain citations, abbreviations, mathematical notations, or copied sentences from the main text.
  • Use Times New Roman 10 pt, single paragraph, justified alignment.

Keywords: Minimum of 3 keywords in both English and Indonesian (Times New Roman, 10 pt).

Main Sections of the Manuscript

The body text should be written in Times New Roman 12 pt, with 1.5 line spacing. The manuscript generally follows the structure below:

1. Introduction

Presents the background, urgency, and significance of the research topic. It should include the research gap and objectives.

2. Theoretical Framework (Landasan Teori)

Contains a literature review or theoretical foundation relevant to the research topic. All sources cited here must appear in the reference list.

3. Research Method

Describes the data collection techniques, data sources, analytical methods, and other relevant procedures. Formulas may be included if necessary.

4. Results and Discussion

Presents analyzed research findings, not raw data. The discussion interprets these findings in light of existing theories and literature. It may include tables, figures, diagrams, or graphs.

5. Conclusion

Summarizes the essence of the study, emphasizing the final findings and their implications rather than restating the discussion.

6. Suggestions and Acknowledgements (Optional)

If applicable, this section may include recommendations for future research or acknowledgements to contributors.

References

  • Written in Times New Roman 11 pt1.5 line spacing.
  • The minimum number of references is 12 scholarly works, with at least 80% primary sources (e.g., journals, theses, dissertations, conference papers) and 20% secondary sources (books, credible websites).
  • References must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style.
  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or RefWorks.

Submission Policy

  • All manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review by other journals.
  • Authors are required to follow the journal template available on the MADZAHIB website.
  • Submissions that do not comply with the journal’s format or ethical policy may be returned for revision prior to review.

Every manuscript will be reviewed under a double-blind peer review process to ensure quality and academic integrity.

Manuscript Length

The manuscript should generally be 6–15 pages (including tables, figures, and references). 

Publication Ethics

The editorial board reserves the right to make editorial changes without altering the substance of the manuscript. Authors must ensure that their work adheres to academic ethics and avoids plagiarism in any form.
