Prayer is an act of worship performed by the followers of the Prophet Muhammad as a direct command from Allah SWT through the Isra' and Mi'raj. This act of worship is obligatory for every Muslim who has reached puberty, is sane, and in a state of purity. The four schools of thought (Mazhab) differ in their opinions regarding the law of intentionally neglecting prayer. The purpose of this study is to determine the similarities and differences between the four schools of thought regarding the law of intentionally neglecting prayer. This research method utilizes library research, a normative Islamic legal approach, secondary data sources, collecting relevant literature, reviewing various literature, conducting citations, using data processing techniques, and analyzing data. The results show a consensus among the four schools of thought: they agree that intentionally neglecting prayer is a major sin. They also differ in their legal status and punishment. The conclusion of this study is that, in terms of legal status, according to the Hanafi, Maliki, and Shafi'i schools, those who intentionally neglect prayer are considered to be sinners. Meanwhile, according to the Hambali School, this person has the status of an infidel. Then in terms of punishment. According to the Hanafi School, this person is subject to ta'zir legal sanctions. Meanwhile, the Maliki and Shafi'i schools of thought are sanctioned by had law if they do not want to repent. Meanwhile, from the Hambali School, this person was invited first. If you don't want to, then you will be sentenced to death.
