Abstract

Early marriage or underage marriage for women has long been a topic of discussion among fiqh experts. This will continue to be the subject of discussion from time to time. On the one hand, there is a clear age limit for early marriage, on the other hand, cultural differences and age differences contribute to the interpretation of cultural facts at a time when religious texts were born and grew. The most valid main source regarding the limits on the permissibility of early marriage is the narration of Aisyah - radhiya-Allahu anha - which is in Sahih Bukhari that the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam married her at the age of 6 years and lived together at the age of 9 years. But apparently, not all historians and hadith accept this history. This is where the source of the difference of opinion comes from.
