Al-Qur'an, Archaeology, Modern scienceAbstract
As a holy book, the Qur'an has various miraculous aspects that align with knowledge and modern science. One of the miracles of the Qur'an is related to archaeology. Archaeological discoveries show that these findings correspond with the information from the Qur'an. Archaeology provides material about periods that did not leave behind written materials or left little written material. The prehistoric period is the era that did not leave written materials, while the historical period is the era that did leave written materials. In the context of the former, archaeology serves a complementary role. For the history of culture and civilization, archaeology is of great importance. Archaeology can reveal the material civilization of the past, such as the formation of cities, housing structures, household furniture, clothing, ornaments, tools, weapons, and even knowledge about religion. Modern scientific discoveries related to archaeology have been proven in many places. The Qur'an, in this regard, hints at historical information about nations of the past, which were later discovered. For example, the archaeological discovery of the Ashabul Kahf cave in Jordan, the archaeological discovery of the Ma'rib dam in Yemen, which is mentioned as a technological achievement of the people of the Saba' Kingdom. In addition, archaeological discoveries regarding the people of 'Ad, the people of Thamud, and the land of Sodom have also been made. This writing reveals how the verses of the Qur'an on archaeology have an accuracy that corresponds with modern archaeological discoveries.
