Between the science of Fiqh and the science of Hadith, there is a close connection and a scientific and practical correlation within Islamic Sharia. These two disciplines, in the study of law, require one another. It cannot be claimed which one is the most important, which is more superior, or which is more urgent than the other. Both are equally important. The science of Hadith serves as a benchmark and provides the principles for a Hadith to be considered authentic (Sahih), so that it can be used as evidence in deriving a legal ruling from a particular case or issue. Hadith itself, as is well known, is the second source of Islamic law after the Quran. Unlike the Quran, Hadith was not written during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) but was transmitted orally, although some of it was written down, albeit in very limited amounts. Eventually, Hadith was codified and documented through a very meticulous method of filtering to ensure that the Hadith was authentic or weak. One of the fields of Sharia that depends on Hadith is Fiqh, which functions to correctly understand the meanings of Hadith. This paper aims to affirm the interconnection and mutual need between the disciplines of Fiqh and Hadith.
